Archbishop Makarios of Australia arrives in Adelaide

Archbishop Makarios of Australia has arrived in Adelaide for a two-day pastoral visit. He will meet with clergy, bless the faithful, and conduct the Consecration of the Church of the Holy Martyrs Raphael, Nicholas and Irene.

Archbishop Makarios of Australia arrived this afternoon in Adelaide, known as the “City of Churches”, where he will undertake a two-day pastoral visit to meet with and bless the clergy and faithful of the Holy Diocese of Adelaide.

His Eminence received a warm and heartfelt welcome at Adelaide Airport from His Grace Bishop Silouan of Adelaide; clergy of the Diocese; the President of the Intercommunities Council, Mr Vladimir Devrelis; the Principal of Saint George College, Mr Ambrosios (Guy) Cassarchis; and other distinguished members of the Greek community.

During his two-day visit to Adelaide, the Archbishop will meet with prominent figures of South Australia. Tomorrow, he will conduct the Consecration of the Church of the Holy Martyrs Raphael, Nicholas and Irene.

The Chief Shepherd of the Fifth Continent is accompanied by His Grace Bishop Elpidios of Perth and Deacons Timotheos Mavromatis and Panayiotis Constanti.
