Pemptousia TV Honors Saint Kosmas the Aetolian

The Orthodox Church celebrates the memory of Saint Kosmas the Aetolian on August 24. The saint lived in the 18th century and was a prominent figure in the Church and Greek nation, promoting education and literacy.

Ο Άγιος είχε σπουδάσει στην Αθωνιάδα Σχολή του Αγίου Όρους, θεολογία και φιλοσοφία και υπήρξε μοναχός στη Μονή Φιλοθέου του Αγίου Όρους, πριν ξεκινήσει τις περιοδείες του στην Ελλάδα για να κηρύξει τον Θείο Λόγο και να χτίσει σχολεία. Επί 20 χρόνια ο «Πατροκοσμάς» περιόδευσε σε όλη την Ελλάδα.

Ως χρήσιμο εκπαιδευτικό εργαλείο θεωρούσε την ελληνική γλώσσα και παρακινούσε τους νέους να σπουδάζουν και να ομιλούν την ελληνική και τους Έλληνες να μιλούν μόνο ελληνικά στα σπίτια τους.

Ο ορθόδοξος ελληνικός λαός πίστευε στην αγιότητα του Κοσμά, πριν το μαρτυρικό του θάνατο, αλλά και μετά από αυτόν. Αν και πέρασαν πολλά χρόνια από τότε, παραμένει σε πολλές περιοχές της Ελλάδος, ζωντανή η μνήμη της παρουσίας του σ’ αυτές. Η επίσημη αγιοκατάταξή του έγινε το 1961 και η μνήμη του τιμάται στις 24 Αυγούστου.

Ο άγιος Κοσμάς έλαβε το χάρισμα από το Θεό και της προφητείας. Καταγράφηκαν εκατοντάδες προφητείες του, οι περισσότερες των οποίων επαληθεύτηκαν με θαυμαστή ακρίβεια, και επαληθεύονται συνεχώς ως τις μέρες μας!

Ο Επίσκοπος Μπουκόμπας κ. Χρυσόστομος είχε μιλήσει, όταν ακόμα ήταν Πρωτοσύγκελλος της Ιεράς Μητροπόλεως Ιερισσού, για τα θαύματα του Αγίου Κοσμά στη Χαλκιδική και την προστασία της περιοχής την εποχή της κατοχής.
