Metropolitan Tikhon of the Orthodox Church in America visited St. Tikhon’s Seminary in Pennsylvania and St. Vladimir’s Seminary in New York in early September, meeting students and staff and presiding over services. He offered guidance to seminarians and celebrated the feast of the Exaltation of the Cross.
During the first weeks of September, His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon made archpastoral visits to St. Tikhon’s Orthodox Theological Seminary in South Canaan, PA, and St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary in Yonkers, NY, marking the beginning of the new academic year at both seminaries.
On Thursday, September 3, His Beatitude traveled to St. Tikhon’s Seminary accompanied by Archpriest Alessandro Margheritino, Chancellor of the Orthodox Church in America, and Archpriest David Bozeman, Secretary of the Orthodox Church in America.
During the two day visit, His Beatitude met with seminarians, staff, and attended services at the monastery church. On Friday, September 4, His Beatitude met with seminarians over breakfast and offered a presentation welcoming new and returning students to the academic year. In his remarks, His Beatitude reflected on the work of seminary formation and offered practical guidance for the students in their studies as he encouraged them to be steadfast in your faithfulness to the tradition of the Church, but be creative in doing so. Fr. Alessandro also offered a presentation to the seminarians.
On Sunday afternoon, September 13, His Beatitude arrived at St. Vladimir’s Seminary, where that evening he presided at the festal Vigil for the Exaltation of the Cross in Three Hierarchs Chapel.
On Monday morning, September 14, His Beatitude presided at the celebration of the hierarchical Divine Liturgy for the feast. Concelebrating with His Beatitude were His Grace Bishop John of Worcester and New England of the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese, His Grace Bishop Benedict of Hartford and New England, Fr. Alessandro, Archpriest Alexander Rentel, Rector of Three Hierarchs Chapel, Archpriest Michael Nasser, the seminary Director of Spiritual Formation, Archpriest Sergius Halvorsen, Assistant Professor of Homiletics and Rhetoric, Protodeacon Peter Ilchuk and seminary deacons.
At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, His Beatitude greeted the seminary community and congratulated Dr. Ionuț-Alexandru Tudorie, Dean of St. Vladimir’s Seminary, together with the new and returning seminarians, their spouses, and families, on the beginning of the academic year. Reflecting on the feast and the formation of those preparing to serve the Church, His Beatitude encouraged the seminarians to give a Cross-wise shape to all your actions and thoughts and that the Cross we lift up today ever be a source of strength and consolation for each of you.

Our pipeline ingests reputable sources, filters and cross-checks them, and produces editorial analysis with human oversight. Editorial responsibility: a human editor reviews and approves items before publication. Community submissions are moderated before going live.
Much of our content is generated or assisted by artificial intelligence and is clearly labelled “AI-assisted”. AI drafts summaries and editorial commentary from source material; a human editor supervises publication. We do not present AI commentary as verified fact, and we link to original sources so readers can verify independently. AI-authored items are attributed to “GUMCIU AI Newsroom”.
This publication covers the Orthodox Christian world. It regularly reports on encounters, disputes and joint work involving Catholics, Protestants, Muslims, Jews and others, and it holds itself to one rule in doing so: we report what was said and done; we do not judge anyone's faith.
Concretely, and this binds the automated analysis as strictly as it binds an editor:
Every story that touches another religious community is held for a human editor before publication, whatever else it satisfies. The analysis engine also re-reads its own output for polemical vocabulary and flags it rather than publishing it. Both are deliberate: one unfortunate sentence about someone else's faith costs more than a month of correct reporting earns.

What we publish about a news story is our own: the summary, the analysis, and the note on Christian practice are written by this publication. Alongside them we reproduce the text of the source article as it was syndicated in that publication’s own feed. It is always presented under the source publication’s name, credited beneath the text, and accompanied by a link to the article on that publication’s own site. Photographs are credited to the publication that took or published them.
We say this plainly rather than describing it as quotation: this is republication of the source text, and it is done on our own initiative. An editor or photographer who does not want their work reproduced here does not have to send a formal notice, cite a statute, or explain why. Write to us and we take it down — the individual article, everything we hold from that publication, or the source itself, whichever you ask for — and we stop taking anything further from that feed. We do not ask for reasons and we do not argue.
Photographs are credited to the publication that issued them and are shown as part of the report on that story. A rights holder who prefers their photograph not to be shown may say so and it is removed.
If you are a publisher and would rather we did not quote you at all, tell us and we will stop, without argument and without requiring a formal notice.
We respect copyright. Rights holders may submit a notice to the designated DMCA agent for the removal of content (notice-and-takedown).
Any person or institution mentioned may request a correction or right of reply via the contact details below. Corrections are marked and dated.
Note: this document provides strong contractual protection but cannot exclude liabilities that the law does not permit you to waive. We recommend review by an attorney before publishing.
